In Descartes Third Meditation, he tries desperately to prove that god exists; he does so by clearing all thoughts because they potentially could be false. He uses the fact that God thinks in order to prove his existence. In the third meditation he presents two arguments for the proof of his existence. I believe that these arguments contain many flaws. In the third mediation, Descartes moves forward in the establishment of the idea of certainty. He decides that the truths he earlier discovered in meditation two have a common element of being distinct and clear. He then states, â€Å"I now seem able to posit as a general rule that everything I very clearly and distinctly perceived is true (Descartes 19). He now realizes that things he†¦show more content†¦Descartes believes that god is, â€Å"a substance that is infinite, independent, supremely intelligent, supremely powerful†(Descartes, Pg. 31). Therefore the only way these ideas could have made it into his mind is i f God planted them there. Thus concluding that God must exist. It is clear that as his arguments progress there becomes a great deal of weakness. He makes the claim that he cannot possibly perceive any element that he himself does not possess. But, he states that he can perceive sizes and shapes, yet as a thing that thinks, how could he perceive these things without having shape or size? With this being said, why does he not rule out the existence of God from the very beginning? Since it is not likely that Descartes contains the all knowing and powerful traits that God does, how could he understand the elements of a perfect being? It does not make sense to me that if Descartes is not perfect, he should not be able to know the idea of a perfect being. For him to comprehend this perfect being, god would have had to plant it there. This argument becomes very confusing because if Descartes could conclude that he is not perfect he should be able to imagine a being who is almost opposite of him. He could then develop the idea of a perfect being; this cannot be used as proof of God, because Descartes could imagine a perfect being, without one existing. AnotherShow MoreRelatedDescartes Vs. Descartes basic strategy to approaching this method of doubt is to defeat skepticism. This argument begins by doubting the truth of everything, from evidence of the senses to the fundamental process of reasoning. Therefore, if there is any truth in the world that overcomes the skeptical challenge then it must be indubitably true. Thus, creating a perfect foundation for knowledge. Canagliflozin is Used for Treatment of Type 2 Diabetes...

Canagliflozin is used for treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus as monotherapy or in combination therapy with other antidiabetic agents to improve glycemic control.1 It belongs to a class of sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2). Canagliflozin reduces reabsorption of filtered glucose from the tubular lumen by inhibiting SGLT2 in the proximal renal tubule.1,2 SGLT2 is the main site of filtered glucose reabsorption; reduction of filtered glucose reabsorption result in increased urinary excretion of glucose, thereby reducing plasma glucose concentrations.1 Canagliflozin is given orally with the starting dose of 100 mg once daily prior to first meal of the day. The dose may increase to 300 mg once daily. However, it needs dose adjustment if eGFR is less than 60 mL/min/1.73m 2 and it is contraindicated if eGFR is less than 30 mL/min/1.73m 2. Its half-life is10-13 hours (dose dependent). The absorption is not affected by food, bind 99% to albumin. It is mainly metabolized by O-glucuronidation and minor oxidative metabolism through CYP3A4.1 Literature Search: Literature search was conducted using PubMed online database. Key words were used: canagliflozin, diabetes and A1C. The search was limited to clinical trials, 5 years, English language and humans. This search yielded 6 articles, while 4 of them were excluded because they studied the efficacy and safety of canagliflozin versus placebo. One article was included based on the efficacy of canagliflozin versus older

House Of Horrors Essay Example For Students

House Of Horrors Essay The doors of the empty house swung open and drifted gently back and forth in the wind. Empty? Muffled screams came from one of the rooms. I opened the door to a scene of inhuman, blasphemous, butchery. Naked men and women were nailed upside down on inverted crucifixes. Blood was dripping down the walls of the pentagonal shaped room. Bits and pieces of rotting flesh was strewn about the place. In the center of the room was a huge inverted pentagram drawn in blood. At each of the five points burnt a large candle with strange symbols imprinted on it. Kill me, moaned a weak voice behind me. It was one of the women nailed to the crucifix. She coughed up blood. Kill me. She began to choke on her own fluids. I looked at her hideously deformed face. I retched. Both of her eyes had been crudely gouged out. I wiped the vomit from my chin. Who did this? I whispered to myself. I did. replied a voice unexpectedly from above. I spun around to find the lines of the pentagram on fire. Something was happening in the center of the symbol. Let me show you what I did, said the voice. The flames of the pentagram engulfed me as I faded into unconsciousnessThe presence loomed over me. I screamed as blood spurted from the wounds in my arms and legs. As I lay panting on my crucifix a blinding light exploded around me. I could feel the retina in my eyes slowly being burnt out. The presence moved again, this time to the right of me. Intense pain ran along the nerve channels in my body. I could feel my limbs being burnt from the inside out. I had no idea where I was but I knew that the strange entity was somehow sustaining my life. Who are you?! I whimpered. The entity spoke. It was a chilling, frightening sound that shook me to the bones. I am the Deicide, it replied, its metallic voice resonating around me. Please.please let me die, I gasped through clenched teeth, spitting blood and vomit. No, it replied simply. I shall not let you die or your soul depart from your flesh. That is what a merciful god would do. Well I am what your god should fear most, what your pitiful human kind should fear, for I am evil beyond your greatest imagining. I am the Deicide, I am the death of God. You shall be the prophet of the Apocalypse of Satan. You will spread the word of the suffering and hate that will become your world, of the plagues and pestilence, the death and destruction. And for all the world to witness, the death of God. What I was experiencing was more terrifying and painful than anything any human being had ever endured. The demon before me showed me a glimpse of its face. It was pure evil. As I stared at the penetrating black orbs which were its eyes, a searing pain exploded in my brain. My memories were being drained from me. First my childhood then as a young man. When I could remember nothing of my past except the terrible torture and pain, the demon raised its arm and pushed one of its three talons into my forehead. My shredded larynx could not cope with the shrill scream which escaped me. I vomited more blood. Lucifers talon penetrated my brain deeper and deeper until it reached my cortex. Delicately he cut away the flesh and severed the organ from my skull. I began choking in my own blood as he severed the back of my neck. With a sharp wrench the demon grasping my spine dislodged my 5th lumbar vertebrae from my cocsick. With slippery hands it pulled my spine through my forehead splattering b rain and flesh over my crucifix. .u3514934cb73191227e55a260c398b08d , .u3514934cb73191227e55a260c398b08d .postImageUrl , .u3514934cb73191227e55a260c398b08d .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u3514934cb73191227e55a260c398b08d , .u3514934cb73191227e55a260c398b08d:hover , .u3514934cb73191227e55a260c398b08d:visited , .u3514934cb73191227e55a260c398b08d:active { border:0!important; } .u3514934cb73191227e55a260c398b08d .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u3514934cb73191227e55a260c398b08d { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u3514934cb73191227e55a260c398b08d:active , .u3514934cb73191227e55a260c398b08d:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u3514934cb73191227e55a260c398b08d .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u3514934cb73191227e55a260c398b08d .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u3514934cb73191227e55a260c398b08d .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u3514934cb73191227e55a260c398b08d .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u3514934cb73191227e55a260c398b08d:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u3514934cb73191227e55a260c398b08d .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u3514934cb73191227e55a260c398b08d .u3514934cb73191227e55a260c398b08d-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u3514934cb73191227e55a260c398b08d:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: World War 1 EssayMy tattered corpse could no longer support my soul. It came into the world not kicking and screaming but in a placid, observant state as though it knew exactly what was happening. The exhausted mother held up the child in her arms and shrieked. Time Management Action Plan Essay Example For Students

Time Management Action Plan Essay For me it seems like there is too many tasks to complete and seldom enough time. Effective and efficient time management is something that I have room for improvement on and have great use of. I started by taking a time management survey. #1 Accept Problem My results from this diagnostic survey on time management assured me that my time management skills are low. The survey revealed that I am on the bottom of the scale of time management. There were two sections of the survey. One section measured your time management skills in an office setting and the other section measured your time management skill in your personal life. By having two sections you can compare your time management skills for the two different settings. The total score measures your overall time management skills and it also puts the score in a category. My scores of 27 points for personal life and 31 points for office settings combines to a 58 point total score. My combined score falls in to the lowest category that suggests that training is necessary and will considerably enhance my effectiveness. We will write a custom essay on Time Management Action Plan specifically for you for only $16.38 $13.9/page Order now The first step of solving a problem is identifying it. After taking this survey I have proof that my time management skills are low. Time management has been a long time problem for me. I have always found excuses for not doing things on time or running late. My main excuse is being involved in so many things as a college student. All of this is true, but it shouldnt be an excuse. I currently work as a lifeguard between classes, tutor nights and weekends, work at a bar weekends, I hold a vice president position in American Marketing Association, I am a member of Society for Human Resource Management, team captain for Cleveland States division I swim team, and I am co-president for Student Athletic Advisory Board. Good time management is needed for all these extras. If I could improve my time management skills I think I would get better in most things that I do. I would be able to enhance my grades in school and be better in the workforce. I would be more relaxed and have a feel of control. #2, Goals and Priorities The first step in effectively managing time is to develop a statement of long-range goals. This statement of goals will allow you to set short range goals and to prioritize specific activities according to how much they contribute to your goals. Setting these long-range goals may be difficult. The process can force you to confront decisions that you have been putting off, or value issues that you dont want to handle. My long-term goals, intermediate, and short-term goals could look something like this: Long-Term Career Goal: Career as a Small Business Manager/Owner (6 to 8 years). Intermediate Career Goals: Enter a MBA program in Business Management (3 to 5 years). Graduate Assistantship at the Bachelors level (2 to 4 years). Short-Term Personal Goals: (Present): Major in business. Courses in management, economics, and accounting. At least a 3.5 average for my bachelors degree. Improve my career best swim times. #3, Daily, Weekly, and Semester Scheduling To be effective in time management, weekly time organization is necessary. A semester-long calendar to lay out all of your major obligations is a good tool as well. Without having clearly defined goals, scheduling will be difficult for two reasons. First, there will not be any guidelines to use for prioritizing your activities; and second, there will be trouble finding motivation to complete the tasks in the schedule. I might, for example, be tempted to go to a movie instead of studying accounting. Two general approaches to weekly scheduling can work well. The first is fairly simple and involves a daily list of things should be accomplish that day. .u4995cd75c65edfaeb1f6bbefcd8cf914 , .u4995cd75c65edfaeb1f6bbefcd8cf914 .postImageUrl , .u4995cd75c65edfaeb1f6bbefcd8cf914 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u4995cd75c65edfaeb1f6bbefcd8cf914 , .u4995cd75c65edfaeb1f6bbefcd8cf914:hover , .u4995cd75c65edfaeb1f6bbefcd8cf914:visited , .u4995cd75c65edfaeb1f6bbefcd8cf914:active { border:0!important; } .u4995cd75c65edfaeb1f6bbefcd8cf914 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u4995cd75c65edfaeb1f6bbefcd8cf914 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u4995cd75c65edfaeb1f6bbefcd8cf914:active , .u4995cd75c65edfaeb1f6bbefcd8cf914:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u4995cd75c65edfaeb1f6bbefcd8cf914 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u4995cd75c65edfaeb1f6bbefcd8cf914 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u4995cd75c65edfaeb1f6bbefcd8cf914 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u4995cd75c65edfaeb1f6bbefcd8cf914 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u4995cd75c65edfaeb1f6bbefcd8cf914:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u4995cd75c65edfaeb1f6bbefcd8cf914 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u4995cd75c65edfaeb1f6bbefcd8cf914 .u4995cd75c65edfaeb1f6bbefcd8cf914-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u4995cd75c65edfaeb1f6bbefcd8cf914:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Mccarthyism And The Crucible Essay In order to use this method, goals are essential.
